Thing 7

I had to think about this one... I mean anything related to technology is so broad. I guess my favorite piece of technology is my i pod. I was pretty intimidated by the i pod when it first came out. I like music enough but I'm not such a fanatic that I thought I needed this new gizmo. Of course then my bestfriend/roommate at the time got one for Christmas the year we were living together. Her mother had secretly asked my opinion on it and it made me think how cool her mom was to have come up with this awesome idea. I told her to go for it. We had lots of fun in January downloading her cd collection, and mine, and other friends, to the i pod. As a junior at OSU that year, they were starting to become more popular, a few earphones could be spotted at the time, but it was still new enough that they werent everywhere as they are now almost 4 years later.

For my 21st birthday, 8 months after my friend had gotten hers. My mom surprised me by coming into town the weekend before. She further surprised me by having 21 gifts for me for my b day. Some were very very little gifts, some were inexpensive things I had been wanting. The card counted as one of the 21 too. One of the items though was a picture of an i pod. The final gift was going to the Apple store at Easton and buying my i pod.

Though I think in some ways its making it easy to be antisocial, like all those walkers across campus ignoring everyone but the voice in their i pod, I really have to say I love my i pod. I like that it says a lot about who I am by what I store in it. 80s classics to my 8th grade pop music to the hard rock of my high school years and of course the original classics like the Beatles. I like looking through my friends i pods and seeing what they still like to listen to. Its a very simple and small way to get to know someone.

Thing 6

I HAD A LOT OF FUN EXPLORING THESE TOOLS. EACH ONE WAS COOL IN ITS UNIQUE WAYS. THE ONE I LIKED THE MOST WAS THE MONTAGER TOOL. IT LOADED A LITTLE SLOW ON THE COMPUTER BUT I REALLY ENJOYED EXPLORING THIS TOOL. WHEN I FIRST OPENED IT I WAS CONFUSED ON WHAT IT WAS DOING AND THEN WHEN I SAW THE END RESULT IT REMINDED ME OF PHOTOMOSAIC PUZZLES THAT I SOMTIMES WORK ON. SOME OF THE SEARCH TERMS THOUGH DID NOT GIVE ME WHAT I THOUGHT WOULD APPEAR. I TYPED IN DOLPHIN AS A TAG AND GOT CONNECTED TO A GUITAR HERO IMAGE WHICHW AS CONFUSING. I EXPLORED BY TYPING IN MANY DIFFERENT TAGS AND ALSO TRIED THE SEARCH TOOL. I CAN'T SEEM TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO SAVE THE IMAGES THOUGH, PERHAPS YOU HAVE TO BE A MEMBER. MY FAVORITE IMAGE SO FAR APPEARED WHEN I TYPED IN "RED" AS THE SEARCH IMAGE. A BEAUTIFUL AUTUMN LEAVE MOSAIC CAME UP. http://www.deviousgelatin.com/montager/image.php?image=2985097334 HOPEFULLY THAT LINK WILL WORK.

AS MY SEARCH IN FLICKR I TYPED IN "DAISY" MANY COOL IMAGES CAME UP BUT I WAS DRAWN TO THIS ONE. IT ISNT LIKE ANY OTHER PICTURE I HAVE SEEN. THE NOTES ON THE IMAGE SAY THAT THE REFLECTIONS ARE FROM THE DAISY IN THE BACKGROUND OF THE PICTURE. I UPLOAD PERSONAL PICTURES TO SOME WEBSITES I HAVE LEARNED ABOUT, BUT I HAD NEVER USED FLICKR BEFORE TODAY. I LIKED TAKING THE TOUR AND FINDING A NEW SITE FOR UNIQUE PICTURES. ANYTHING I SEARCHED FOR I FOUND UNIQUE PHOTOS FOR UNLIKE ANY ON MOST OTHER WEBSITES.

7 1/2 habits of learning

1. BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND
-DETERMINE GOAL
2. ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN LEARNING
3. VIEW PROBLEMS AS CHALLENGES
4. HAVE CONFIDENCE IN SELF AS COMPETENT EFFECTIVE LEARNER
5. CREATE YOUR OWN LEARNING TOOLBOX
6. USE TECHNOLOGY TO YOUR ADVANTAGE
7. TEACH/MENTOR OTHERS
7 1/2. PLAY!

It is most easy for me to view problems as challenges to be overcome. I like to find ways to fix problems instead of finding them to be a burden. I don't think any of the habits are hard but I do often forget about 7.5 play, it is easy to forget to make it fun to learn.
